SHOPPING THE MARKETPLACE
It is a curated retail marketplace located inside Blakk City™ featuring products from participating Black-owned businesses. The Marketplace creates a physical platform where customers can discover brands while helping support Black entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The Marketplace is located in the heart of Blakk City™ as part of City Center.
No. You do not have to be a Resident to support businesses featured in the Marketplace.
Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 PM–8:00 PM and Friday through Saturday from 12:00 PM–10:00 PM. The Marketplace is closed Sunday and Monday.
Products vary by Marketplace cycle and participating businesses. Categories may include beauty, skincare, apparel, accessories, books, stationery, art, gifts, home and lifestyle products, wellness products, food and other retail-ready goods.
Blakk City processes Marketplace transactions through its POS. Vendor payouts are processed by the end of each month, along with a sales statement showing gross sales, applicable commission and vendor payout.
The process begins with a virtual introduction call, followed by an on-site casting call for businesses moving forward. Selected businesses then complete onboarding, agreements, payment, product approval, POS information and required documentation before receiving setup instructions.
Yes, opportunities may include Marketplace launches, demonstrations, sampling, promotions and other Blakk City programming. These opportunities require approval and may vary by tier and cycle.
Not without written approval from Blakk City. Vendors are expected to fulfill their approved Marketplace cycle and follow assigned removal or renewal procedures.
Renewal opportunities may be available based on performance, product fit, Marketplace needs, available space and compliance with Marketplace standards. Founding Marketplace Businesses receive the first opportunity to renew their Marketplace location under your current program structure.
Founding Marketplace Businesses start at $99 per month plus 20% commission on gross sales. Marketplace Residents start at $49 per month plus 25% commission on gross sales.
Founding Marketplace Businesses may have 3–5 approved SKUs, while Marketplace Residents may have 2–3 approved SKUs. Final products and quantities are subject to approval and available space.
Not without approval. Vendors may not change approved SKUs, pricing, labels, placement, display size or packaging without Blakk City approval.
The current Marketplace model is not structured around vendors staffing individual booths. Blakk City processes customer transactions through its POS, while vendors are responsible for inventory, restocking, product information and participation requirements.
Blakk City assigns Marketplace placement. Placement may be adjusted to support first come first serve signups and availability subject to change based upon presentation, customer traffic, programming, safety and overall Marketplace operations.
Yes. Cash and major credit/debit cards are accepted. Marketplace purchases are processed through the Blakk City point-of-sale system
Products displayed in the Marketplace must be purchased through the Blakk City POS. Participating vendors may not privately process Marketplace purchases or redirect customers away from the Marketplace to purchase displayed products.
Marketplace purchases are final sale with no refunds, returns or exchanges, except where required by applicable law or when Blakk City provides written authorization.
